Miffy Exhibition
On March 4th 2007, I went to the Museum of Childhood to see the Miffy retrospective, as it is Miffy's 50th birthday. The exhibition had all kinds of features for children such as puppets, dressing up kit and "make Miffy a birthday card" but I have focussed on the pictures and illustrations. There was plenty to engage adults too.

I love the simplicity of the Miffy drawings. Today I learnt that Picasso admired them too, saying she was a "good shape".

Photos taken with my phone (I forgot my camera) so the quality is variable.

The first thing you see is images of Miffy at an art gallery - quite appropriate!

Miffy in the tent. There was a video showing how this was made. Dick Bruna never used a ruler.

An interesting series of photos and collages showing how Miffy is created from sketch to print. The coloured parts are cut out, and then placed on a white background - so Miffy is whitespace!

One of my favourite sketches, from "Miffy is Crying". It shows how effective the simplicity of the drawings can be.
