The Gorge - Flash Bristow's Website
Sisters of Mercy
Seen at Kentish Town Forum, 1998, and London Astoria, 2000.

No photo, because there was nothing to see!

A short review, this. On both occasions I was stuck upstairs (despite having standing tickets for LA - I guess they were full up and misjudged things) and you can see nothing of Sisters from upstairs, even in a small venue.

Andrew Eldritch has transformed from a wailing goth to a slightly arrogant figure with short bleached hair. He insists on so much dry ice that he can barely be seen, and from upstairs you literally catch glimpses of him between clouds.

He trawled through the songs, which were still good, and clearly still popular, but it was nothing moving, just an average performance on a dull stage.

The first time, I had hoped for a feeling of "the old days". No chance. I went again because I had thought I would be near the front, plus I took my boyfriend along because this is one of the few bands that we both agree on. Forget it. Don't go - not even for the nostalgia value.
